One of the things we don't get to shout about very often are the reports we create with public sector organisations, on the impact of their work advancing new technologies. A lot don't get made public, but here's a great example for The National Physical Laboratory’s Quantum Technologies Programme: https://lnkd.in/gwxta6UQ

It is exciting to see that 2025 will be the International Year of Quantum. The second quantum revolution (the first giving us silicon based computers) will change all aspects of our lives. Great to see it given the prominence it deserves. https://lnkd.in/g9kMiP6t

A very interesting 1-minute explanation of blind quantum computing by Harold Ollivier, giving a glance of what security issues arise when we delegate quantum computations to a quantum server & solutions for that. If the data and the algorithm are sent plain, obvious security issues exist. Quantum cryptography is here for that! Among the existing methods, here is mentioned blindness to ensure information-theoretical security.Blindness is indeed very important, it is used in techniques to verify that the computation was performed well, that the server wasn't malicious (verification is very important in delegated computation, whether it's classical or quantum!). By delegating "test computations" that you can efficiently verify, and interleaving those with your actual computations, you can get a statistical guarantee either that there was a deviation on the server's side, or that the computation went well.Another key takeaway mentioned by Harold is that the security of the protocols here is information-theoretical : the strongest form of security, independent of the adversary's computational abilities. It is proven mathematically that the protocols are as secure as possible in an ideal world. This sounds like utopia but we're getting to such powerful protocols mainly thanks to entanglement, a phenomenon exclusive to quantum systems.
