We've all heard horror stories of someone using the wrong wheel cleaner who ends up staining or damaging their wheels. For that very reason, it's essential to know what type of wheels you're working with and how aggressive the wheel cleaner is that you're using. Black wheels tend to be some of the more sensitive wheels on the market, and you naturally want to get them cleaned without causing damage. Meguiar's has the perfect solution with Hot Rims Black Wheel Cleaner. The specialized formula is powerful enough to deliver thorough cleaning while still safe on sensitive surfaces like gloss, matte, satin, black chrome, and wheels with black accents! The advanced foaming gel helps the product to stick to vertical surfaces to maximize dwell time and the cleaning ability of the cleaner. So, if you've got black wheels and have been looking for the right wheel cleaner to get the job done, we've got the right wheel cleaner for you!

Polishing black wheels will add more of a shine to the wheels, (if it's a gloss black, matte black doesn't shine very well.) Apply a small amount of wax to a clean microfiber cloth or polishing pad for each wheel.Spread a thin layer of wax to the wheel going in a circular motion.
Use wheel cleaner to remove heavy brake dust from rims. Some of the best wheel cleaners for those in need of a heavy brake dust remover are Turtle Wax T-18 all wheel and tire cleaner and Meguiar's G180132 ultimate all wheel cleaner.
Matte Black Rims can be difficult to clean and so here's how we like to remove brake dust… but without damaging the wheel. What causes most wheel damage is the endless scrubbing on a wheel because it creates a massive amount of unnecessary marring.
Drizzle some Dawn dish soap or dedicated car soap into a clean bucket. Add some warm water to make a foamy solution. Flip the wheel over so the inside surface of the rim again faces up. Use a dish sponge with a mildly abrasive pad on one side to wash the remaining brake dust off the inside surface of the rim.
Get rid of road dirt, grease and tar by using a degreaser and cleaners like dish detergent and baking soda! Mix your dish detergent with equal parts water and clean your rims using a soft cloth. Then sprinkle baking soda on the rough side of a sponge and go over your rims again, and finally rinse off.
Cleaning matte wheels is pretty much the same as cleaning chrome, metal, or glossy finished wheels. The only main difference is that you want to use a silicone-free wheel cleaner, as silicone tends to make matte surface appear somewhat blotchy and uneven.
Mechanical wheel cleaners are abrasive and activate through agitation with a sponge or a brush. Scrubbing the surface with a mechanical cleaner works the solution deep into the surface of the wheel, eventually lifting debris or brake dust that may linger.
Maintaining a matte finish should be treated differently to other paintwork. It requires specialist detailing products and techniques to maintain a long lasting appearance. However, with the right detailing products and care, there's no reason why your matte car shouldn't stand the test of time.
Re: How do I make my matte/satin black rims shiny? Silicone based products like Armor All dressing will make them a little bit shinier but not GLOSS shiny. If you want gloss black wheels you need to refinish them with a gloss clear coat and not a wax or any quick detailing product.
