Enable your Citi Card for Online, Contactless and International Transactions (2024)

As per RBI circular dated January 15, 2020 on Enhancing Security of Card Transactions, Citi Credit and Debit Cards issued to customers including new, reissued, renewed or upgraded cards, will be enabled for Domestic ATM and Point of Sale (POS)/physical transactions only. The cards will be disabled for Online, Contactless and International, transactions to protect against fraud.

In addition, if customers have not used their existing card for online, contactless or international, transactions in the last 3 years (including cards issued or new accounts opened during this period), usage for these purposes will be mandatorily disabled. However, the limits can be setup and the usage can be enabled for any disabled transaction by simply logging into Citibank Online or Citi mobile App and navigating to “Manage Cards”. They can also set the daily usage limit for ATM, POS and Online transactions.

  • We have disabled international transactions for new, upgraded, renewed and reissued cards as per the RBI circular dated January 15, 2020 on Enhancing Security of Card Transactions, to prevent potential misuse and fraud on your card. This is also applicable for existing cards that have not been used for international transactions for 3 years (including cards issued or new accounts opened during this period).

    To enable international transactions, simply login to Citi Mobile App or Citibank Online and navigate to “Manage Cards”.

  • We have disabled online/e-commerce transactions (international or domestic) for new, upgraded, renewed, and reissued cards as per the RBI circular dated January 15, 2020 on Enhancing Security of Card Transactions, to prevent potential misuse and fraud on your card. This is also applicable for existing cards that have not been used for online/e-commerce transactions for 3 years (including cards issued or new accounts opened during this period).

    To enable online/e-commerce transactions simply login to Citi Mobile App or Citibank Online and navigate to “Manage Cards”.

    • We have disabled contactless transactions (international or domestic) including Samsung Pay for new, upgraded, renewed, and reissued cards as per the RBI circular dated January 15, 2020 on Enhancing Security of Card Transactions, to prevent potential misuse and fraud on your card. This is also applicable for existing cards that have not been used for contactless transactions for 3 years (including cards issued or new accounts opened during this period).

      To enable contactless transactions, simply login to Citi Mobile App or Citibank Online and navigate to “Manage Cards”.

  • For any existing recurring payments/standing instruction on your card, you will need to enable online, ecommerce and/or international transactions.

  • As mentioned, the effect on existing card transactions are based on past spends (3 years, including cards issued or new accounts opened during this period). For new cards, irrespective of how many are issued (1, 2 or more), all cards will be enabled only for ATM and domestic Point of sale transactions.
