If your monthly allotment is direct deposit, and the account the account for the account has been closed, and a new account has been opened in the same facility will, Social Security transfer the allotment to the new account?
If the allotment is not deposited, what EXACTLY WOULD I NEED TO DO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT? Personally, I’d rather SPEAK WITH SOMEONE IN PERSON. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Today’s date is September 2, 2021.

Hi Sylvia. No, if you close the account where your Social Security benefits are being deposited they won't automatically be redirected to your new account. Social Security needs both the financial institution's routing number and your account number in order to directly deposit your benefits.
If your direct deposit account has been closed then you need to contact Social Security with your new account info ASAP. If Social Security sends a payment to a closed account and that payment gets returned, your benefits get suspended and it can often take a long time to get your benefits reinstated. For anyone reading this, never close the account where your Social Security benefits are being deposited until you've changed your direct deposit information with Social Security and you've confirmed that your benefit payments have been redirected to your new account.
Right now there is no way to meet with a Social Security employee in person since their offices are closed. You may be able to change your direct deposit information online at Social Security's website (https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/direct-deposit.html). If not that, your only other current option is to call Social Security at 800-772-1213 to request to have your payments redirected to your new account.
