About the adventure
For long years, you labored in the fields like all the peasants, sweating hot and dirty in the summer, only to shiver under threadbare hides when winter came. This year’s harvest ended like all the rest, and autumn’s work was hard on Old Man Roberts. When you visited his bedside at the end, he spoke in labored breaths of constellations that hadn’t been seen since he was a young lad. The last time the Empty Star had risen in the sky, it was more than fifty winters past, he said. Under the light of that strange star a portal had opened by the old stone mounds. He’d seen jewels in there and fine steel spears and enamelled armor, but he’d run when the iron men had attacked. Now, old and dying, he wishes he’d taken the chance on a life of adventure. The Empty Star is once more rising, and a young person with courage could be more than just another peasant – if only they’d take the chance Old Man Roberts hadn’t.You’re taking that chance. You stand before the monolithic rocks of the old stone mounds, under the dark light of a starry sky. The Empty Star is clear and bright above you. Three of the large stone blocks lean haphazardly together to form an upright rectangular. portal about the size of a person. They seem to be placed directly beneath the star’s path. As the Empty Star ascends to its brightest point, its light catches in the portal, and a shimmering stone-lined corridor is visible through the stones, but only from one side of the opening. Grasping your pitchfork with white knuckles, you step into the starlit portal which was not there before today, thoughts of jewels and scorching wheat fields foremost in your mind...______Expect a good, old–school one-shot with the possibility of starting a campaign for any players that want to keep playing. This is the story of how you became an adventurer.The adventure is based upon DCC's "Portal Under the Stars" a zero level funnel adventure. What's a funnel?A funnel is the creation of the backstory of your hero! It's the story before the saga, the reason that you decided to leave your safe life and seek glory, riches and all that glitters!A funnel adventure is fast to set up and easy to learn. It teaches you the basics and yet, while designed to be very deadly, each person. starts with two to four regular people who have decided to change their lives by exploring the portal and investigating the legends of untold riches.DCC adventures strike fear into the hearts of the most stalwart. They are packed with an abundance of traps, tricks and monsters...and treasure... And there will be glory. This adventure is finely tuned for the beginner. The experienced and the veterans also love the feeder adventures as it helps you recapture the thrill of the first adventure.At the start of the session, we will generate your heroes with a few quick dice rolls...the creation time for about four charcters per person is usually fifteen minutes. By the end of the session, you will have stalwart heroes!

How to prepare
Players will need to have a microphone and camera on their Discord account. Accounts are free.Log on to the Discord server before game time and we will get you sorted for your characters.TL;DR Join the Discord server.
What I provide
Gaming with me is easy and stress free. When you join the game, Start Playing provides you with a message that includes an invitation to my Discord Server. We will make contact on the discord server. If you want to schedule ahead of time, the contact can be done on the voice channel. On the server before game time, we will make characters. Pre-Made Characters are also available on request.Obviously...you are here after all...you will need a means to communicate.Discord:The game occurs on Discord. I would recommend a microphone and headphones. You will need an account on Discord. It's free.VTT:The maps and tokens are played on Owlbear Rodeo. No account needed. It's very easy to use and doesn't require a lot of bandwith.Sound and Music:There will be an optional link provided which allows you to log into my music and sound effects. Some folks like this...some don't. It's optional. Either way, no need for an account.Rules:It's great if you've got the rules. If you don't I can provide you with a pdf of the starter set. I'll provide that link on the Discord server.If you book me for an In-Person game, I provide terrain, miniatures, books and dice. How will character creation work
Characters will be created prior to the game on the dedicated Discord server. Pre-made characters are available on request. Essentially creation is fast and simple with four (4) zero-level characters being created in less than 15 minutes.TL:DR Don't worry. Creation is fast and finished before the session.
