Kid Rock blasts 'snowflake' reporter in 'drunk and belligerent' interview (2024)

The musician - who calls Donald Trump his “bestie” - even asked the reporter interviewing him to stay overnight.

Kid Rock spoke to the entertainment mag at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was described as "simultaneously provocative and offensive."

"The first two hours of Rolling Stone's conversation with Kid Rock were cordial to a degree," the magazine said on X, formerly Twitter.

"Then, Kid Rock got drunk and belligerent, and the evening went off the rails."

The reporter was met at the door by a white butler named after a racial slur aimed at black people.

And the musician's home is modeled to look like the White House - little surprise given his close ties with Trump. Rock even visited the White House in 2017 with Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin.

“I’m digging Donald Trump,” he said in early 2016.

The rapper - whose hit songs include Bawitdaba, Cowboy, Picture, and All Summer Long - has covered his garage doors with his many platinum records.

Rolling Stone writer David Peisner said that his chat was the culmination of an in-depth article started last year about "Rock’s transformation from everyone’s favorite life-of-the-party rock star into this fervent MAGA warrior."

He managed to meet the star in April for more quotes, at his "sprawling 214-acre compound, which includes a saloon, a studio, and a cavernous hangar with a pickleball court, a basketball hoop, and the original General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard."

There are even hand towels monogrammed with an “R" - while a mirror in the bathroom has a naked woman depicted wearing a pink “Liberty” headband.

Rock, 53, spoke at length about Trump, how music inspires people, and his life in general.

“Look around. I live in my own world. And it’s great," said Rock during the two-hour-long interview.

The star explained that he had grown up listening to "mountain and hillbilly music" as his grandfather had family from Kentucky.

He also spoke of his difficult relationship with his dad - but that their relationship improved over time.

SHOT CANS OF BUD LIGHT

While puffing on a cigar, Rock told the reporter that he "wants the best for this country" despite "not (getting) it right every time."

He was referring to the many controversial moments during his illustrious career.

Rock has continued to make headlines for contentious moments such as dissingBeyoncéand, last year, blasting cans of Bud Light with a barrage of bullets in "protest."

Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, took to Instagram to share a shockingvideoof himself gunning down cases of beer after saying "Grandpa's feeling a little frisky today." Critics slammed it as "moronic."

The reporter admitted to struggling to keep pace with Rock.

"(He) skips from topic to topic like he’s flipping channels, and says intentionally outrageous s*** in a way that it’s never clear whether he’s joking, serious, just trying to irritate you, or maybe all three."

Kid Rock's quotes during his Rolling Stone interview

The musician spoke to writer, David Peisner for the famous mag - here's a taste of what he said:

"Purple Rain is probably the greatest Prince song ever written. Prince is known for Purple Rain. I’m known for shooting up Bud Light cans!"

"You don’t understand. I really don’t give a f***.”

“You can crash here tonight. I’ve got room for you.”

"You haven’t even asked me about my jewelry.”

“I have $370 million in cash.”

“Would you do me a favor?” Just write the most horrific article about me. Do it. It helps me.”

At one point, Rock swapped his white wine for Jim Beam and Diet co*ke.

Then things turned bizarre very quickly.

The reporter said the musician quickly drank at least three or four of Jim Beam and Diet co*kes, while sitting in a dark leather chair, and shouting at him.

"He reaches behind the seat, pulls out a black handgun, and waves it around to make some sort of point," added Peisner.

After speaking about American history, slavery and the genocide of Native Americans, Rock stressed his continued support for Trump.

"We need Trump. I’ll call him right... now," said Rock.

"It’d be easy to label this as the rantings of a drunk racist, but as with everything that Ritchie does, it’s hard to know how calculated it all is. Is he just trying to get a reaction?" pondered the writer.

CRASH HERE

When Peisner tells Rock he had better head home, as he was facing a four-hour drive to Atlanta, the musician begged him to stay the night.

“You can crash here tonight. I’ve got room for you," he told Peisner.

Rock then played a YouTube video of himself performing Born Free at a 2011 charity event. He then grabbed an acoustic guitar off the wall and started playing alongside footage of him performing Maggie May.

“You’ll just stay over," he insisted when the writer announced he really had to leave.

Peisner did eventually leave the property - but not before Rock admonished him for failing to grill him on his jewelry, called him a “college snowflake" and told him he needed a new job.
