What are the aliens called in home? ›

A cowardly alien race known as the Boov, led by Captain Smek, commence their "friendly" invasion of the planet Earth. Relocating the humans, whom the Boov deem as simple and backwards, to the Australian Outback, the Boov inhabit their homes.

After a hive-minded alien race called the Boov conquer the Earth, they relocate the planet's human population -- all except for a little girl named Tip (Rihanna), who's managed to hide from the aliens. When Tip meets a fugitive Boov called Oh (Jim Parsons), there's mutual distrust. However, Oh is not like his comrades; he craves friendship and fun. As their distrust fades, the pair set out together to find Tip's mother, but, unbeknown to them, the Gorg -- enemies of the Boov -- are en route.

A movie review of “Home”: This animated feature, about purple aliens invading Earth, works moderately well thanks largely to the voice talents of Jim Parsons and Steve Martin.

Smek, formerly known as Captain Smek, is the main antagonist of DreamWorks' 31st full-length animated feature film Home. He is the arrogant, selfish, and cowardly leader of an hive-minded alien race called the Boov who are trying to find a place to hide from their enemy, the Gorg.

In his first starring role in an animated feature, Parsons plays a purple alien, Oh, from a race of hive-minded creatures called the Boov. The creatures worship their leader, Capt. Smek (Steve Martin), and prize conformity above all else.

Out of all the animated friends we are introduced to throughout the movie, we spend the most time with two of them: Blossom (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), a cartoony butterfly lady, and Blue (Steve Carell), a big yet adorable purple furry monster.

In the gas station restroom break scene Oh mentions that booves also have a nr 3 but it happens only once a year and it is indescribably terrible. Nr 3 means having an offspring. Here's why I believe so. First a quotation of what Oh said: "It is is a good thing I dooz not has to go the number 3.

Why does no one like oh in Home? ›

Among the Boov race, Oh is avoided, due to his ineptitude and lack of attention to detail. Oh constantly accidentally makes trouble for other Boov by either doing things wrong, not paying attention to what he is doing, and making mistakes.

Home is an engaging animated adventure that will appeal far more to those under 8 than their accompanying adults. Fresh score. Contains good moral lessons wrapped up in a shiny package with giggles for the kids and even a laugh or two for parents who will have top accompany the little ones.

Led by the cowardly, arrogant Captain Smek (Steve Martin), the Boov are six-legged creatures with wide-set eyes and pig tail ears who change skin colors with their moods and speak in a bizarre, jumbled, contraction-free version of English. For the most part, the Boov are an ornery bunch who keep to themselves.
